Hi I’m Jake 👋

I’m excited to be considered for the “Unlock Your Potential” campaign and to bring still photography to life alongside the team at GYK and bankESB. I’ve worked with Johan for years, and we’ve built a great rhythm on set. We know how to work together to make strong, meaningful still images that extend a campaign without compromising the film production.

Much of my experience has been in exactly this kind of setup: integrating into a live film shoot, staying nimble, and delivering strong stills that extend the storytelling across platforms — from OOH to social, digital, and print.

The “Banking for the Big Picture” message hits close to home — both creatively and in terms of how I approach still photography. Whether it’s the quiet intimacy of the “Wiggle Room” family scenes or the subtle strength of the father-daughter business partnership in “Building the Big Picture,” I’m drawn to these human moments — the mix of real and aspirational, the sense of momentum, the emotional payoff.

I've included some selected image from my archive here that I hope resonate with the tone and direction you’re building: warm, honest, and vibrant — with a focus on subjects over spectacle.

01 — APPROACH

I had a great conversation with Lily, and it’s clear this will be a well-run production with a strong creative team behind it. My approach will mirror the way I’ve worked on many past shoots — moving seamlessly within the flow of production, staying nimble and low-impact while capturing honest, beautifully lit moments that reflect the tone of the campaign.

Based on our conversation, I’ll be working solo on set. This streamlined setup allows me to stay quick on my feet and blend into the production without getting in the way. We’ll be using the lighting created by the video team, which not only ensures cohesion across the stills and motion but also allows us to move efficiently throughout the day.

When the scene calls for it, I’ll shoot with a silent shutter, allowing me to work quietly even during live takes. Where time allows, I’ll coordinate with the AD to identify natural windows — often right at the tail end of a film take — to capture a few intentional frames without slowing anyone down or interrupting momentum.

My goal is always to support the larger production while delivering stills that feel thoughtful, warm, and ready for use across channels.

02 — Creative Coordination

Because this approach relies on capturing moments quickly and often on the fly, alignment ahead of time is essential. I’ll coordinate with the creative team before the shoot to ensure I have a clear understanding of the visual priorities, key story beats, and any must-have shots.

On set, it’s helpful to have a dedicated creative point of contact — whether that’s a Creative Director, Art Director, or someone else from the team. That way, we can stay in sync throughout the day and make sure the stills are hitting the mark without needing to slow things down.

Image review will happen primarily on the back of the camera for quick approvals, but I’ll also have a laptop on hand. If time and workflow allow, we can review select frames in more detail as we go.

Warm, human storytelling

captured with clarity and intention.

03 — Post Production

I really appreciate the team’s attention to color throughout the concepting — it’s something I care deeply about as well. My aesthetic is inspired by film, but always with a modern balance — warmth, subtle vibrancy, and tonal depth that feels natural and emotionally true.

While we haven’t yet gone in-depth on who or how final retouching will be handled, I’ll plan to deliver a curated edit of my recommended selects from the shoot. I’ll also provide color grading references to help guide the post process and ensure the final images reflect the tone and texture we’re aiming for.

These images will be carefully crafted with a human touch — refined and honest, designed to echo the tone of the film work while extending its emotional impact across other campaign channels.

04 — Let’s Make Something Great

This kind of project is exactly where I do my best work — collaborating with a sharp creative team, staying embedded within a film production, and capturing imagery that complements and elevates the story being told.

I know how to move fast, stay out of the way, and still deliver frames that feel crafted and emotionally true. With my long-standing relationship with Johan, a clear understanding of the campaign’s tone, and a deep respect for the collaborative process, I’m excited about the chance to contribute to something meaningful here.

Let’s make it great.

About Me

I'm a stills photographer based in Cold Spring, NY, where I live with my wife and daughter. Parenthood has only deepened my appreciation for the kinds of stories I love to tell — ones rooted in real relationships, small details, and everyday moments that carry emotional weight.

Much of my work centers on capturing that feeling within the flow of commercial film productions. I approach each shoot with craft, care, and a sensitivity to the larger campaign vision — aiming to deliver imagery that feels both intentional and lived-in.

One of my first jobs was as a photographer at mcgarrybowen, where I met Johan. Since then, our collaborations have spanned over a decade and ranged from major campaigns for Verizon to portrait work with Misty Copeland, and many more. We’ve built a strong rhythm working together — rooted in trust, efficiency, and a shared instinct for human storytelling.
